Italian Language

The CSAL organizes Italian language courses free of charge for all the foreign students studying at UNIVPM, for the incoming Erasmus students and for visiting professors on international exchanges.

Throughout the year, our language experts are available to provide courses, practice sessions, and language support services related to teaching activities and preparation for the Italian language Open Badge issued by CSAL.

International students at UNIVPM can apply to attend the Italian Language classes using the following form:

Italian Language courses for beginners, intermediate-level and advanced-level students.

Italian language courses for beginners, intermediate, and advanced levels are offered in both the first and second semesters.
Classes are held in person in the classroom and simultaneously online via Teams.
Students must request access to the relevant Team using the Teams link provided in the CSAL website timetable of the selected course.

These courses are open to all international students of the University and are of particular interest to incoming Erasmus students who have included Italian in their OLA (Online Learning Agreement).

Italian language course for Medicine and Surgery students

For students enrolling from the academic year 2025/26 onwards, the Italian Language course for beginners becomes part of the curriculum for students in Medicine and Surgery. First-year students who are not native Italian speakers must include the Italian Language course (code [W004319]) in their Study Plan.

Agraria – FABIAM – Other Activities (Italian)

International students enrolled in the Master’s Degree Programme “Food and Beverage Innovation and Management” (FABIAM) may obtain five credits, included under “Other activities (Language)”, upon passing an Italian language examination at A2 level.

Italian language Open Badge@

Open Badges are digital certificates that attest to Italian language proficiency.
The Italian L2 Open Badges are issued by CSAL as part of the “Open Badge@ CSAL” project. Examinations for the award of the Badge can be taken free of charge by international students and visiting scholars of the Università Politecnica delle Marche.

Students residing outside the European Union

Non-EU students residing outside the European Union who wish to enrol in the University’s degree programmes are required to pass a language proficiency test. The test is generally held remotely (on the dates established by the Ministry).
Test format: written examination assessing listening and reading comprehension, as well as lexical and grammatical knowledge.

Self-Study

Self-studying Centers
At the CSAL Media Libraries, Italian language books and textbooks are available for students to consult on site. The software program “TELL ME MORE” for learning Italian is also available on our computers.

e-learning (Moodle)
Within the Università Politecnica delle Marche’s Moodle E-Learning platform (https://learn.univpm.it/?lang=en), a range of learning materials prepared by CSAL language experts is available to enable students to study independently.

Language support service
During the academic year, a language advisory service is also provided by CSAL language tutors. The language support service may be useful for students who need specific support in preparing for exams, advice on how to certify their language skills, or guidance for self-study activities.
